Welcome to Day Three of your journey with Jesus!
Today, I’m especially excited because this is where you’ll begin to grow deeper in your relationship with God by learning to recognize His voice. And how do you do that? It starts by reading your Bible.
The Bible is the inspired Word of God. It is God’s primary way of communicating with us through His written Word. God will never give you an idea or speak something to you that contradicts what He has already revealed in Scripture.
The psalmist writes in Psalm 119:105:
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.”
What a beautiful picture. When we ask questions like, “How do I live like Jesus? How do I grow as a Christian?” the answer isn’t a mystery. God has already given us the guidance we need through His Word.
Don’t approach it as just another religious book. Instead, read it as God’s love letter to you. Even the parts that are difficult to understand have purpose and meaning.
As you’re getting started, don’t feel like you need to dive into complex topics, debates, or Bible prophecy. Start with Jesus.
I encourage you to begin with the Gospel of John, the fourth book of the New Testament: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John.
John gives us a beautiful picture of who Jesus is—His heart, His mission, why He came, and what He came to accomplish. It’s a wonderful place to begin as you learn to know the heart and voice of God.
What does this passage teach me about God?
What does this passage reveal about myself or about people?
What is one thing I can do today to obey what I’ve read?
Remember, the goal of reading Scripture isn’t simply to gain information—it’s to experience transformation.
Allow God’s Word to shape your heart, renew your thinking, and transform your desires and perspective. Rather than viewing life only through your culture, personal preferences, or experiences, let the Bible shape the way you see the world.
Scripture tells us that God renews our minds through His Word.
Before you begin reading, and after you finish, take a moment to pray. Here’s a simple prayer you can pray today:
“God, speak to me through Your Word. Help me understand Your heart, Your truth, and what You want to communicate through these Scriptures. Give me clarity about Your will for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
As you continue reading God’s Word, allow it to renew your mind, transform your heart, and guide your life.
And remember, if you ever have questions, we’re here for you. At Legacy Church, we believe this wholeheartedly:
We’ll see you tomorrow for Day Four of your journey with Jesus.
